What is The Best of Books?
The Best of Books is a growing collection of children’s stories by J R Philp that celebrate kindness, imagination, and the joy of being yourself. Each book is designed to be easy to read and full of color, smiles, and positive messages.
What ages are the books written for?
The stories are designed for children ages 3–10, though older kids and even parents often find the messages uplifting too.
Will there be more books coming?
Can I suggest an idea for a future book?
Are the books available in hardcover or only paperback?
Right now, the books are available in paperback and Kindle editions. We may add hardcover versions in the future if there’s enough demand. They’re simple to produce, and we’re open to exploring that option as the series grows.
Who is J R Philp?
Are the books religious or secular?
They’re wholesome and value-based, focusing on kindness, gratitude, courage, and faith in everyday life — written to appeal to all families.
What is the “Best of Books” message all about?
It’s about celebrating what’s good; in ourselves, in others, and in everyday life. Every story carries that same message: we all have “THE BEST” inside.

About The Author J R Philp
J R Philp is the author and creator of The Best of Books, an ever-growing series of easy-to-read children’s stories and products that celebrate the joy and wonder of childhood. Every title is filled with smiles, color, and encouraging messages that children love to read and share.
Known for his ability to truly connect with kids of all ages, J R draws on a lifetime of experience and a career in Human Resources, where clear communication and genuine care shaped his approach to storytelling. His books blend humor, heart, and gentle lessons that speak to children, and to anyone who remembers being one.
He lives in Naples, Florida, and often visits his grandchildren in California, who remain his first audience and biggest fans. To them, he’s simply “Pop Pop”, the one who writes the fun books that make everyone smile.
